Weather Forecast for February 17
According to ХВИЛЯ: Meteorologist Natalka Didenko forecasts sharp temperature swings, frost, and shifting atmospheric conditions for February 17. The Felix anticyclone will dominate, bringing dry weather to most of Ukraine. However, the southern regions should expect wet snow, rain, and gusty winds. Light snow is possible in western Ukraine by evening.
Nighttime temperatures on February 17 will range from -5°C to -12°C, plunging to -12°C to -18°C in northern areas. Daytime highs will be between -2°C and -7°C, or -5°C to -10°C in the north. In southern and southeastern regions, daytime temperatures will hover from -2°C to +2°C, while Crimea will see milder readings of +3°C to +9°C. In Kyiv, expect a frigid night of -15°C to -17°C, with daytime temperatures of -6°C to -8°C and a risk of icy roads.
Weather Changes in the Coming Days
According to Didenko, a shift is expected from Wednesday, February 18, as a cyclone from the Balkans brings snowfalls, blizzards, strong winds, and a warming trend. The meteorologist noted that southern cyclones often arrive in series, which can lead to prolonged periods of unsettled weather. This pattern is typical for late winter in Eastern Europe, where continental and Mediterranean air masses frequently clash.
This forecast underscores the need to monitor conditions closely, especially for drivers and those planning outdoor activities. Due to the risk of black ice and rapid weather changes, caution and preparedness are advised. The arrival of the Balkan cyclones is expected to usher in a spell of wetter and colder conditions, potentially impacting daily life across the country.
