Electronic barrier on the border of Poland
Цей проект загального контролю кордону між Польщею і Україною має величезне фінансування та важливе значення для обох країн.

Technical equipment of the future border

According to ХВИЛЯ: The project, estimated at 450 million zlotys, involves the creation of a modern electronic barrier on the Polish-Ukrainian border. Its key task will be to enhance security at the unstable eastern border of the country. The system will include a complex of technical means for round-the-clock monitoring.

Components of the border security system

As part of the project, the following technologies are planned to be used:

  • fiber-optic lines for information transmission;
  • underground cables that register seismic fluctuations;
  • power cables for energy supply.

Thermal imagers and day vision cameras will be installed on special ground poles. All data from these devices will flow to the headquarters of the border unit on the Bug River for analysis in a single monitoring center. For Eastern Europe, such large-scale projects of strengthening borders are becoming increasingly relevant in the current geopolitical situation.

Funding is planned to be attracted from several sources, including the EU SAFE program. However, the implementation of the project is temporarily blocked due to the presidential veto, which may delay the completion dates. Nevertheless, preparatory work continues - the process of selecting a contractor has already begun.

'The unstable situation on the eastern border, the activity of criminal groups, and instances of diversions require strengthening of preventive measures.'

The implementation of such an electronic barrier is seen as a significant step in combating illegal activities and strengthening control. This is especially important in the context of rising tensions in the region. However, delays due to the veto vividly demonstrate the challenges Poland faces in strengthening its defensive capabilities.
