According to Главком: Polish scientists developed the Stratus system to neutralize drones without firing shots or explosions, using electromagnetic radiation. This technology, created by the Gdansk University of Technology, has already successfully undergone a series of laboratory and field tests. However, the system is currently being improved and has not yet been commissioned.

The situation in Ukraine

At the same time, the situation in Ukraine remains tense due to the active actions of Russian invaders who are trying to bypass Ukrainian defensive positions through Belarus. Russia is using combat drones (UAVs) daily in the war against Ukraine, and the equipment for guiding these drones is often placed on residential buildings, posing significant risks to the civilian population.

Major General Vadim Skibitsky, Deputy Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, reported an increase in drone production in the Russian Federation, indicating an escalation of the threat.

In response to these challenges, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky instructed Mykhailo Fedorov, Denys Shmyhal, and the command of the Unmanned Systems Forces to modernize the drone distribution system. Zelensky emphasized the importance of stopping the irresponsible game with human lives, stating:

“This is an absolute disregard for human lives, and it is important for Minsk to stop playing with this.” - Volodymyr Zelensky

The Stratus system could become an important tool in the fight against drones; however, its implementation in the army is still ahead.

The development of the Stratus system is an important step in the context of the growing threat from drones in the war in Ukraine. The technology that allows for neutralizing drones without explosions can significantly enhance the safety of Ukrainian forces and the civilian population. At the same time, the necessity of modernizing the drone distribution system, as noted by President Zelensky, indicates the urgency and importance of adapting military strategies to new challenges in the conflict.
