Andriy Hrechany Breaks National Record in Ukraine

Covering the full marathon distance of 42.195 kilometers with such heavy gear, he set the record for the heaviest load carried during a marathon run. This achievement honors the memory of his fallen comrades, Viktor Kuzmenko and Dmytro Skryl, who lost their lives on May 5, 2026, during rescue operations following a missile attack when Russian forces struck the area again as the rescuers arrived.

Endurance, Training, and Commitment

At 33 years old, Andriy demonstrated remarkable stamina, finishing the MHP Run4Victory marathon in 6 hours and 41 minutes. Throughout the race, he lost over 4 kilograms of body weight. To accomplish this feat, he wore a heavy protective suit, helmet, and carried a substantial oxygen tank on his back. His preparation took place during off-duty hours, showcasing his dedication and determination as a rescue professional.
