Former Coach of the Klitschko Brothers Passes Away
The boxing world mourns the loss – legendary coach Tommy Brooks has passed away at the age of 71 after a long battle with cancer. Promoter Lou DiBella reported this news.
«The family has just confirmed that outstanding coach Tommy Brooks has died this evening after a hard fight with an aggressive form of cancer. Too soon. A great man in boxing and an even better man in life – he was truly a reliable guy,» DiBella wrote.
Under the guidance of Tommy Brooks, Evander Holyfield became the undisputed world champion in the cruiserweight division. The coach also worked with the Klitschko brothers, Mike Tyson, and other famous boxers. Brooks ended his career in 2001 and fully devoted himself to coaching.
In addition to Tommy Brooks, another boxing legend has left us. 72-year-old former American boxer Dwight Muhammad Qawi died from dementia. His sister Wanda King reported his death.
