Over 100 Railway Workers Trained in First Aid Across Five Ukrainian Cities Ahead of World Heart Day

First Aid Training Sessions Conducted

According to Міністерство Здоров'я: In anticipation of World Heart Day on September 29, more than 100 railway employees from five Ukrainian cities participated in first aid training sessions. These sessions were held in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Odesa, and Lviv, organized by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in collaboration with the State Institution "University Scientific Medical Practice of Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine" under the Ministry of Health.

During the trainings, participants developed crucial emergency skills, including:

• performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR);
• using automated external defibrillators (AEDs);
• providing assistance during seizures and loss of consciousness.

These courses were led by experts from the training departments of regional centers for emergency medical care and disaster medicine, ensuring high-quality instruction for the railway staff.

The Critical Role of Training for Worker Safety

It is important to highlight that since the beginning of this year until early September, Russian forces have launched over 1,500 attacks targeting Ukrzaliznytsia infrastructure. This elevated risk underscores the necessity of such first aid training to protect railway personnel. Organizers advise conducting refresher courses at least twice a year to maintain proficiency.

First aid training represents a vital measure to enhance the safety of railway workers, especially amid escalating threats linked to ongoing military conflicts.

Equipping railway employees with emergency response skills can significantly reduce the severity of incidents in critical situations, thereby contributing to safer transportation environments throughout Ukraine.
