Protecting Ukrainian Roads from Aerial Threats

According to Мін. Оборони: Work continues on installing drone-resistant barriers along roads in areas near the front line. This is part of broader efforts to keep essential traffic moving in zones vulnerable to drone strikes. Since the start of 2026, more than 1,180 kilometers of such protective structures have been put in place. In July alone, 215 kilometers were newly built, 16.52 kilometers restored, and 112.7 kilometers of paved roads repaired.

Progress in Frontline Regions

Operations are focused on frontline territories, where 25 road sections have already been completed. Another 21 sections remain under active construction, reflecting the continuous priority placed on road safety under these difficult circumstances.

Setting up anti-drone protection is a vital measure for ensuring highway security in high-risk areas with an elevated threat of drone attacks. In addition to improving driving conditions, it strengthens the region's broader defensive posture, an essential factor during an active military conflict.
