Ukrainian surgeons have performed 200 surgeries with AR glasses: how this changes medicine
According to Міністерство Здоров'я: Ukrainian surgeons have achieved impressive results. Doctors have performed over 200 surgeries using AR glasses. This new technology was developed in Kharkiv and allows operating on patients while using three-dimensional models of their organs created based on CT and MRI scans. The Extra Vision project, authored by neurosurgeon Vladislav Kaluzhka, is already widely used in surgery and medical indicators.
The initial successful implementation of this innovative technology was carried out by cardiologist Mykyta Markevych. The first surgeries using AR glasses were performed at the Kharkiv Regional Clinical Hospital on the brains of patients with various diseases.
The technology allows creating detailed 3D models based on CT and MRI data, highlighting all important anatomical and pathological structures. These models are combined with AR glasses, enabling surgeons to see them in real-time. This increases the accuracy of surgeries and reduces risks for patients. The technology is successfully used in vital areas of medicine, underscoring its significance in modern treatment.
