Record indicators of domestic government bonds

According to Мінфін: As of August 3, 2026, the portfolio of domestic government bonds (DGB) owned by individuals reached a record 159.3 billion UAH, which is the highest figure in the history of the domestic state bond market. In July 2026, citizens' investments in DGB increased by over 9.3 billion UAH. The total volume of DGB in circulation amounted to 2 trillion UAH, while the portfolio of banking institutions reached 933 billion UAH.

Investment growth in DGB was also recorded among legal entities, insurance companies, and non-residents. In July, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine conducted 13 auctions for the placement of DGB, resulting in over 40.95 billion UAH equivalent attracted to the state budget. The weighted average yield level of the placed bonds in July was 12.84%. Additionally, a switch auction of DGB took place in July, where the volume of satisfied bids amounted to 15 billion UAH at nominal value.

Investing in DGB

During January-July 2026, 310.2 billion UAH was attracted to the state budget, of which 230 billion UAH was from placement auctions and 80.2 billion UAH from exchange auctions. The nominal value of one bond is 1,000 UAH, 1,000 USD, or 1,000 EUR. Anyone can purchase DGB through the "Diia" app, in banks, or through brokers. In the "Diia" app, registration takes only a few minutes.

The growing interest in domestic government bonds indicates the increasing trust of the population in state finances and a desire to invest in safe assets under conditions of economic instability. The participation of individuals in the DGB market can become an important factor in stabilizing the Ukrainian economy and supporting the state budget, especially in the recovery period after crises. Given the record indicators, further growth in this market segment can be expected, which may also encourage the government to conduct new auctions and proposals to attract investments.
