US Ambassador to NATO: the war can be settled within 90 days
Resolution of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine
According to Главком: US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker expressed the view that Russia's war against Ukraine can be settled within 90 days. He noted that negotiations are being conducted with the mediation of the administration of US President Donald Trump, which continues to work on the peace process. Whitaker emphasized that prolonged hostilities are causing significant damage to both sides of the conflict.
In Whitaker's opinion, if a peaceful settlement takes place, it could happen in the next three months. However, he also stressed that the Russian Federation will require key changes in the final version of the peace plan, which consists of 20 points proposed by the US and Ukraine.
Ukraine's position and further actions
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, for his part, stated that Ukraine does not recognize Donbas as Russian and expressed a willingness for further dialogue. Zelensky also warned that if Russia refuses the peace plan, the US may increase military support for Ukraine. Whitaker summarized:
'Killings must stop, as this has been going on for four years and it is absurd.' - Matthew Whitaker
Ambassador Whitaker's statements reflect the US's efforts to activate the peace process in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, emphasizing that resolving the situation is critically important for both countries. President Zelensky's position that Ukraine is not ready to recognize the annexation of Donbas also indicates that a significant compromise from Russia will be necessary for successful negotiations to conclude. In the context of escalating tensions at the front, possible increased military support from the US is an important factor that may influence the strategic balance in the region.
