Train Services Disrupted After Overnight Strikes

According to Главком: Ukraine's state railway operator, Ukrzaliznytsia, has announced widespread train delays following infrastructure damage from a large-scale Russian assault that took place on the night of June 15. The disruptions stem not only from damaged tracks and equipment but also from required stops to evacuate passengers. Despite the challenging circumstances, long-distance train services between major cities remain operational, including routes to and from Dnipro.

Delay Details and Passenger Advice

According to Ukrzaliznytsia, the most significant schedule deviations range from +3 hours to +3 hours and 40 minutes. Specific delays include:

  • Train No. 53/54 Odesa-Dnipro: delayed by +3 hours 50 minutes;
  • Train No. 75/76 Kryvyi Rih-Kyiv: delayed by +3 hours 30 minutes;
  • Trains No. 21/22 Kharkiv-Lviv and No. 65/66 Kyiv-Sumy: delayed by +3 hours 30 minutes;
  • Train No. 7/8 Odesa-Kharkiv: delayed by +3 hours;
  • Train No. 39/40 Zaporizhzhia-Solotvyno: delayed by +3 hours 40 minutes;
  • Train No. 45/46 Kharkiv-Uzhhorod: delayed by +3 hours 30 minutes;
  • Train No. 21/22 Lviv-Kharkiv: delayed by +3 hours 15 minutes.

In light of these delays, Ukrzaliznytsia urges passengers to monitor real-time updates on the uz-vezemo website. The railway company notes that delay times may change as crews work to repair damage, deploy auxiliary locomotives, and adjust routes to get travelers to their destinations as quickly as possible.

“Thank you for your understanding. We will get everyone to their destination,” Ukrzaliznytsia representatives stated.

The attack that caused these disruptions was carried out by Russian forces using 681 aerial assault systems, including attack drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles. In Kyiv, at least 4 people were killed and more than 20 wounded as a result of the strikes. Fires and damage were recorded in nearly every district of the capital. In the Kyiv region, five districts felt the impact, with 3 people injured, including a child. Warehouses, private homes, and vehicles caught fire. This assault ranks among the most extensive combined strikes on Ukraine since the start of the full-scale war.

The train delays are a direct consequence of both military aggression and the imperative to ensure passenger safety. Ukrzaliznytsia is striving to minimize inconvenience for travelers while continuing operations under extremely difficult conditions. Tensions in Ukraine remain high as attacks on infrastructure become increasingly targeted, threatening not only transportation networks but also civilian lives.

In addition to the widespread delays, Ukrainian Railways has also adjusted train routes in response to recent attacks in the Dnipropetrovsk region. These changes aim to ensure passenger safety and maintain service despite ongoing challenges. For those planning to travel, staying informed about route modifications is crucial during this time of uncertainty.
