Пожежа в салоні краси в Києві: рятувальники попереджають про небезпечні наслідки.

Kyiv Beauty Salon Damaged by Fire

According to Главком: A fire broke out in a beauty salon in Kyiv's Pechersk district on February 17 at 12:41 PM, caused by a generator operating inside the premises. Emergency responders extinguished the blaze quickly, and no injuries or fatalities were reported.

Critical Safety Guidelines for Generators

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) has issued a stark reminder about the vital importance of following proper generator installation rules. They strongly advise:

  • installing generators outdoors only;
  • placing them at least 6 meters (about 20 feet) away from any doors or windows.

This is due to the lethal carbon monoxide gas that generators emit, which is odorless and can be fatal in enclosed spaces.

This incident follows a tragic event in another part of Kyiv, the Desnianskyi district, where three people died from carbon monoxide poisoning from a generator used inside an apartment. The victims were a 30-year-old woman, her 61-year-old mother, and her 63-year-old father. The generator in their apartment on Lisovyi Masyv was powered by a gas cylinder. This earlier tragedy underscores the deadly consequences of ignoring safety protocols.

These incidents highlight the severe dangers of using generators indoors. The need for strict safety measures has become increasingly urgent as many Ukrainians rely on alternative power sources due to ongoing disruptions to the electricity grid. It is imperative that the public heeds expert advice to prevent future loss of life.
