"These incidents do not necessarily represent a direct Russian assault on NATO. At this stage, they are probably not ready or willing to take that step," he added.

He also pointed out that Russia may be deliberately permitting drones to veer off-course and intrude into the airspace of Lithuania or its Baltic and Polish neighbors, a tactic that benefits Moscow strategically. "This undoubtedly serves Russia’s interests," Nausėda concluded.
