According to НАЗК: Recent research conducted by the National Anti-Corruption Agency in collaboration with experts from the Center for Political and Legal Reform and supported by the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative revealed interesting facts about judicial practice in corruption-related cases from 2014 to 2024.
The analysis revealed some key trends:
- Courts often issue verdicts in favor of military personnel who violate the rules of combining military service with other activities.
- The lack of justification for the market value of a gift in the protocol complicates holding individuals accountable for receiving gifts.
- There is no unified practice in determining the dates of corrupt acts, which may lead to the release of guilty parties.
- Most cases of illegal information usage are closed due to the absence of an offense structure.
Identified systemic issues:
The absence of clear regulation of conflicts of interest, problematic timelines for imposing penalties, and limited rights of prosecutors in court proceedings are the aspects that need immediate resolution to improve the fight against corruption in Ukraine.
