According to glavcom.ua: Researchers from Stanford School of Medicine discovered that excessive activity in the thalamic nucleus, which filters sensory information, may trigger autism. Reducing activity in this area of the brain in mice led to a decrease in autism symptoms such as seizures, increased sensitivity to stimuli, heightened mobility, and social interaction problems.

Researchers also found that increasing activity in the thalamic nucleus in healthy mice triggered autism symptoms. Medications used to treat epilepsy had a positive effect on autism treatment, which explains why about 30% of people on the autism spectrum also suffer from epilepsy.

Other researchers from Germany, Spain, and Britain have discovered a new mechanism of memory destruction in Alzheimer's disease, which may contribute to the development of more effective dementia treatment methods. Additionally, scientists from the United Kingdom proved that the location of fat in the human body significantly influences heart and vascular aging.

Studies have shown that excessive activity in the thalamic nucleus may be one of the causes of autism, and medications used to treat epilepsy may have a positive impact on the symptoms of this disorder. Further research on memory destruction in Alzheimer's and the influence of fat location on the heart and vessels may lead to new treatment methods for these diseases.
