PSG wants to replace the Russian goalkeeper with Ukrainian Zabarnyi: reaction of the State Duma deputy
Prominent State Duma deputy Dmitry Svishchev expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that the football club 'PSG' is seeking to get rid of Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov in order to acquire Ukrainian defender Ilya Zabarnyi. This was reported by 'Glavkom'.
'Strange things are happening. Why should our goalkeeper be the one to suffer? These things have nothing to do with sports... I don't understand why our goalkeeper should leave the team because of the acquisition of a Ukrainian defender... Sports should not rely on any political issues', - noted Svishchev.
Also, Turkish journalist Berk Gel spoke about the possible transfer of the Russian goalkeeper to the Turkish club 'Galatasaray'.
Prospects of Safonov's transfer
According to the journalist, the transfer of Matvey Safonov could be advantageous for 'Galatasaray'. The player is unique in that, as a Russian, it is difficult for him to find a club in Europe due to political circumstances. Nevertheless, 'Galatasaray' could become an optimal option for him if he wishes to remain in Europe.
Ukrainian defender Ilya Zabarnyi may join the football club 'PSG', but this transfer has faced criticism from some Russian permanent defenders, who perceive it as political activity. The possible transfer of Matvey Safonov to 'Galatasaray' could be beneficial for all parties involved in this situation.
