US Proposal on the Zaporizhzhia NPP

According to Главком: Vladimir Putin has put forward a proposal to the US regarding a possible dialogue on the joint management of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (NPP), ignoring Ukraine's participation in this process. According to the Russian president, the American side shows interest in utilizing the plant's capacities for cryptocurrency mining. As of today, the Zaporizhzhia NPP, which is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, has been under Russian occupation since 2022.

Ukraine's Position

Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, reported the existence of 12 points of a peace agreement concerning the operation of the Zaporizhzhia NPP. He noted that joint management of the plant should include the participation of Ukraine, the US, and Russia. Zelensky emphasized that

“this is America’s proposal”

and stated that a compromise has not yet been reached on this issue. He also added that the Russian side is convinced of maintaining its control over the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
