Putin simplifies obtaining Russian citizenship for all residents of Donbas
This is evidenced by the decree of the President of Russia.
The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has simplified the process of obtaining Russian citizenship for residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. This is indicated by his decree on the official legal information portal of the Russian Federation.
The decree applies only to those who already lived in this territory before April 2014. This means that now everyone who was registered in the Donbas territory since April 2014 can obtain a Russian passport in a simplified manner.
Let us recall that on April 24, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the simplified procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship for residents of the territories occupied by Russia in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Putin's aide, Vladislav Surkov, called this decision 'just and inevitable', while the 'leaders' of the 'DPR' and 'LPR' thanked him.
