Parliament Approves Budget Amendments to Unlock EU Funds for the Military

According to Главком: Ukraine's parliament has passed a critical measure that clears the way for finalizing adjustments to the national budget, enabling the country to secure additional financial support from the European Union for its security and defense sectors. This legislative move removes the legal barriers that had been blocking EU assistance, which will now help cover military salaries, as well as the purchase, upgrade, and repair of weapons, military equipment, and ammunition.

New Service Contracts and Incentive Payments

A government resolution introducing contracts with fixed service terms has been published on the Cabinet of Ministers' website. Starting June 15, 2026, service members will be able to sign new contracts, including infantry-assault, combat, and basic types. The government has also rolled out a revamped system of incentive payments and bonuses, with these provisions set to take effect on June 1, 2026.

Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced these reforms, which are designed to boost both funding and motivation for military personnel. The state will now be able to allocate financial resources more efficiently to strengthen the country's defense capabilities.
