June 28 Missile Attack on Kharkiv Region Kills Woman, Injures Eight
Ongoing Shelling in Kharkiv Oblast
According to Главком: A 55-year-old woman lost her life, and eight others were wounded-including two children, a 10-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy-when Russian forces launched a missile strike on the Zmiiv community in Kharkiv’s Chuhuiv district on June 28. Among the injured are women aged 32 and 53, as well as men aged 26, 28, 41, and 50.
This attack is part of a broader wave of strikes that hit Kharkiv throughout June. Key incidents include:
- On June 21, Russian troops used 'Molniya' weapons to target a 12-story building in the Kyivskyi district of the city.
- On June 20, guided aerial bombs struck Kharkiv’s Kholodnohirskyi district, injuring five people.
- That same day, separate strikes hit a private residential area and a two-story apartment building.
- On June 19, shelling also occurred in the Kholodnohirskyi district, with the first report coming in at 03:49 and an update from the mayor at 04:33. These attacks initially damaged around 15 private homes, a number that later rose to over 40.
During firefighting efforts following the June 19 shelling, five State Emergency Service (DSNS) personnel were killed, and at least five more rescuers sustained injuries.
Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Head Oleh Syniehubov and Mayor Ihor Terekhov have highlighted the dire situation in the region. Ukrainian Internal Affairs Minister Ihor Klymenko commented:
