Tragedy in Svyatohirsk: rescuer Oleksandr Tsurkan died
On the night of February 28, 2023, a tragedy occurred in Svyatohirsk - as a result of shelling of the fire station, junior sergeant of the civil protection service, Oleksandr Tsurkan, was killed. The young man was pursuing his dream of becoming a doctor after graduating from medical school, but decided to serve as a rescuer, joining the rescue unit of the SES in Donetsk region.
He participated in numerous actions to evacuate civilians, deliver humanitarian aid, and provide first aid to those injured by shelling. The rescuer's valuable contribution also included assisting bomb disposal teams in demining combat areas.
“This war takes the best of us, but we remember and honor their sacrifice,” emphasized the colleagues of the fallen rescuer.
As a result of the shelling, Oleksandr Tsurkan received fatal injuries and died. His memory will forever remain among his colleagues as a talented and kind man who always supported his friends.
