Kursk Operation: How Ukrainian Soldiers Encircled the Enemy in a Women's Colony
According to glavcom.ua: On the anniversary of the Kursk operation, Deputy Chief of Staff General Oleg Apostol talked about lesser-known events from those days. He shared information about Ukrainian soldiers who surrounded the hostile group in the territory of a women's correctional facility during the battles for Mala Loknia.
The general noted that the enemy fled from Suja to Mala Loknia and settled in the colony, which was the extreme stronghold. They managed to cut the enemy troops off from logistics and encircle them.
«I forbade firing at buildings with bars, thinking that women prisoners were being held there. Fire was only opened on administrative buildings,» the general emphasized.
Later it turned out that there were no women left in the colony, but the fighters did not know this. Apostol added that if they had known about the absence of civilians, none of the opponents would have survived during the encirclement.
«The fallen commander was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Russia. The chief of staff who escaped was also,» Apostol concluded.
Discussing the details of the combat actions during the Kursk operation helps to better understand the course of events and the manifestations of courage of the warriors in difficult situations.
