Rice, buckwheat, and pasta: where to find the cheapest grains this summer
According to hvylya.net: Supermarkets have updated prices on popular grains in Ukraine, as evidenced by data from the Minfin portal.
An analysis of the price situation in the market for basic grains in Ukrainian stores showed ambiguous trends in July of this year. Consumers faced both price increases for certain types of products and decreases in the cost of some goods.
Buckwheat demonstrated a significant increase in prices compared to the previous month. If in June a kilogram of buckwheat could be purchased on average for 34.11 hryvnias, in July the average cost is 34.10 hryvnias. Among retail chains, the most accessible prices for buckwheat are offered by Auchan - 29.90 hryvnias per kilogram, while in Megamarket this product costs 43.20 hryvnias. In Metro and Novus, prices have practically leveled off at 31.30 and 31.99 hryvnias respectively.
The rice market is characterized by significant price differentiation depending on the variety and quality of the product. Long-grain rice remained unchanged in price - 58.50 UAH per kilogram. The most attractive prices for this type of rice are offered by Metro - 49.50 hryvnias, while in Auchan the price reaches 70.20 hryvnias. Steamed long-grain rice also showed positive dynamics, decreasing from 68.13 to 54.10 hryvnias, with Metro remaining the leader in affordability at a price of 49.90 hryvnias per kilogram.
As a result of the analysis of the price situation in the grain market in July in Ukraine, it is clear that buckwheat prices have risen, while rice has remained stable and even shown a certain decrease in cost, which may affect consumers' choices in stores.
