Rivne launches E-Pass from August 1: how to pay for travel in cash

Public transport in Rivne will fully transition to the electronic ticket E-Pass from August 1, 2026. Cash payments will not be eliminated, but trips can be paid for using a single QR ticket from the EasyPay terminal. This was reported by the secretary of the Rivne City Council, Viktor Shakyrzian.

E-Pass electronic ticket in Rivne: how to pay for travel

Passengers will be able to choose one of several payment methods. For most locals, the familiar payment by card or smartphone will remain unchanged.

• bank card, Apple Pay or Google Pay via the validator;
• general plastic transport card;
• school or student card with a 50% discount;
• benefit transport card;
• digital transport card in the EasyPay app;
• single QR ticket for cash payment.

General plastic cards are sold in the stores "Sim23" and "Simi". Benefit cards will currently only work in plastic format.

The digital transport card in Rivne will operate in test mode

A digital transport card will be launched in the EasyPay app. It will serve as a virtual equivalent of plastic: it can be purchased, top-up without fees, and check balance and travel history on a smartphone with NFC.

Initially, the digital card will only support the general tariff. Holders of general, school, or student cards will not need to buy a new one: the existing card can be added to the app and used via phone.

How to purchase a QR ticket for cash in Rivne

Passengers paying in cash need to buy a QR ticket at the EasyPay terminal at the stop or in the city. In the menu, select "Rivne Electric Transport" and the service "One-time QR ticket for Rivne City".

Up to nine tickets can be purchased in one operation. After payment, the terminal will issue a receipt with a QR code that must be scanned at the validator immediately after boarding. The receipt should be kept until the end of the trip for verification by the inspector.

Validation of travel in Rivne will become mandatory for everyone

After the launch of the E-Pass, every passenger must validate the trip regardless of the payment method or benefit category. This applies to people entitled to free travel.

If there is no validation, the trip will be considered unpaid during the controller's check. Therefore, passengers are advised to apply the card, smartphone, or scan the QR code immediately after entering the transport.
