Anniversary of the Death of Irina Farion

According to glavcom.ua: On July 19, exactly one year will pass since the death of the outstanding linguist Irina Farion. Her close friend, Ukrainian language teacher Oksana Mykytiuk, shared her memories of their acquaintance. Specifically for the publication 'Glavkom', she talked about her first meeting with Irina.

“We met in September 1991 when we both came to work at Lviv Polytechnic. Irina came in like the wind, quick and hot. It was hard not to notice her in a burgundy skirt and red sweater,” recalls Oksana Mykytiuk.

Oksana continued her story, describing how together with Irina they created a stand about Ukrainian linguists and spent a lot of time together. The friendship between them was extremely strong and sincere.

Irina Farion is remembered as a person who dedicated her life to promoting the development of Ukrainian culture and language. She led several cultural projects, was a member of the Parliament, and worked on popularizing the Ukrainian language through social networks and television.

Unfortunately, Irina Farion was killed by a criminal who was apprehended and is currently on trial. She left behind an incredible legacy that will forever remain in the hearts of Ukrainians.
