Більш ніж 200 російських безпілотників атакували Україну протягом доби, з них 78 було знищено системами протиповітряної оборони.

Russian Drone Strikes on October 1

According to Рубрика — Суспільство: On October 1, from early morning until evening, Russian forces launched 97 attack drones against Ukraine between 6:30 AM and 6:00 PM, including 66 rocket-powered UAVs. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the country’s air defense systems successfully intercepted 78 of these drones, with 55 being rocket-propelled. By the end of the assault around 6:00 PM, roughly 10 hostile attack drones remained airborne over Ukrainian territory.

Earlier, overnight into October 1, Russian troops conducted another wave of attacks using 107 Shahed-type attack drones and decoy UAVs. These strikes hit 11 different locations. Tragically, during one combat operation, MiG-29 pilot Marat Mambetov was killed after his aircraft was downed by a Russian missile.

Key Targets of the Assaults

The main objectives of the Russian drone attacks included:

  • The Kyiv Institute for Nuclear Research, which sustained a direct hit;
  • Southern Bridge in Kyiv, where the strike forced a halt to traffic.

These attacks highlight the ongoing intensity of Russian military operations and the significant challenges faced by Ukraine’s air defense network.

The rising use of drones in this conflict underscores a growing threat that questions the current effectiveness of Ukraine’s air defense capabilities. Damage to critical infrastructure like the nuclear research institute emphasizes the urgent need to strengthen defensive measures and advance technologies designed to counter unmanned aerial threats. Such developments also raise concerns internationally, given the risks these strikes pose to civilian populations and essential infrastructure.
