Attack Targets Passenger Train and Border Crossing

According to ХВИЛЯ: The Russian military launched an assault on a passenger train locomotive in the Volyn region, just two kilometers from the Polish border. Fortunately, no casualties occurred, as a monitoring team alerted the train crew in time to avoid harm. This marks the second consecutive day of attacks targeting railway infrastructure. Ukrzaliznytsia reported:

"We continue to monitor aerial threats, maintain train operations, and implement all possible measures to ensure the safety of passengers and railway workers."

On the same morning, the Yagodyn border checkpoint, located on the Ukraine-Poland frontier, also came under attack. Debris from the strike ignited fires at a gas station and several trucks. Border operations were suspended during the air raid alert, and all personnel were moved to shelters.

International Response Intensifies

Drone attacks on Ukraine’s western regions have persisted for two days. In response, Polish forces scrambled fighter jets to patrol their airspace. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha condemned the strikes, stating:

"Russia’s brutal attack on the Yagodyn crossing at the Ukrainian-Polish border is not merely an extension of assaults on Ukraine’s sovereign borders. It is Putin’s terror knocking directly on the doors of the EU and NATO."

Sybiha urged global partners to take decisive action:

• "Act now: impose the full weight of sanctions on Putin’s aggressive regime. Make Moscow face the consequences of its terror. Not half-measures but uncompromising, strong actions."
• "Complete trade embargoes. Total travel bans. Comprehensive sanctions against the military-industrial complex."

He emphasized the urgency of a firm response:

"Putin must understand that his barbaric acts will be met with resolute actions that raise the cost of war to an unbearable level. This is the only way to stop him."
