On Thursday, July 31, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake occurred in the Pacific Ocean near Kamchatka early in the morning. According to the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service, the tremors were felt at a depth of 39.4 km beneath the seabed, 178 km east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. As a result of this earthquake, more than 200 aftershocks were recorded, with the strongest reaching a magnitude of 6.5.Operational data from seismic observations confirm that last night, following an earthquake with a magnitude of 8.8, which was the strongest since 1952, several aftershocks were recorded in Kamchatka, and a tsunami was observed on the eastern coast of Kamchatka, Japan, and Hawaii. Currently, the tsunami warning has been canceled for a wide area from the California-Mexico border to Rincon Point, including Los Angeles.
