Ongoing Assaults on Ukraine's Power Grid
According to Главком: On June 4, Russian forces targeted a vehicle belonging to JSC Sumyoblenergo, leaving one employee wounded. The victim was rushed to a hospital and is receiving full medical care, according to Ukraine's Ministry of Energy. The attack caused power outages for some consumers across six regions.
Just two days earlier, on the night of June 2, Russia launched a large-scale combined assault on Ukraine's energy and oil-and-gas infrastructure. The primary target was the capital, Kyiv, but the strikes also hit Dnipro, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, and other areas. The assault involved attack drones along with air-, sea-, and ground-launched missiles.
That attack killed 13 people and injured over 100. Damage to infrastructure left some consumers in Kyiv and seven other regions without power. The Ministry of Energy stated that repair teams are working around the clock to restore electricity to all customers as quickly as possible. Currently, no further restrictions are anticipated.
Current Power Supply Situation in Ukraine
As of today, consumers in the following regions remain without electricity:
- Dnipropetrovsk
- Zaporizhzhia
- Sumy
- Kharkiv
- Kherson
- Chernihiv
These incidents highlight the persistent threat to Ukraine's critical energy infrastructure amid ongoing armed aggression.
