Russians Storm Key Settlement in Zaporizhzhia - Defense Forces

According to hvylya.net: The Russian army has been trying for several consecutive days to capture the settlement of Kamianske in the Zaporizhzhia region, which is strategically important due to its location on a dominating height.

Representative of the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine Vladyslav Voloshyn reported that the enemy is attempting to break through the Ukrainian defense and reach the right bank of the Yanchekrak River. According to the representative, all attempts by the enemy have been unsuccessful. Russia has not been able to dislodge the Defense Forces from the left bank of the Yanchekrak River, and no positions have been lost.

'For several consecutive days, the enemy has been trying to capture this settlement in this direction, breach our defenses, and reach the right bank of the Yanchekrak River,' Voloshyn stated in a telethon.

'I want to assure that the Defense Forces of Ukraine have not suffered any losses of positions in this settlement. We hold this settlement and successfully repel enemy attacks,' Voloshyn emphasized.

The representative explained why Russian occupiers are so persistently trying to capture Kamianske. The settlement is located on the highway from Simferopol to Kharkiv and is situated on a dominating height, making it an important foothold.

'By capturing this settlement, the enemy will be able to inflict fire damage with long-range artillery systems on Stepnohorsk and will be able to reach the southern outskirts of Zaporizhzhia,' Voloshyn noted.

If Kamianske is captured, the enemy would have the ability to shell Stepnohorsk with long-range artillery and even reach the southern outskirts of the regional center, Zaporizhzhia. This is why Ukrainian defenders steadfastly hold the defense of this strategically significant settlement.
