Attack targets Kherson’s Central District

According to Главком: Russian occupation forces launched a strike on Kherson’s Central District, killing one man and leaving another seriously wounded, who was subsequently hospitalized. This information was confirmed by the Kherson Regional State Administration and the news outlet Glavcom.

The attack occurred during daylight hours when people in the Central District came under fire. According to local authorities, one man died as a result of the explosion. The identity of the deceased is currently being established. Another man sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a city hospital.

Aftermath and official response

Emergency services from the State Emergency Service (DSNS), police, and municipal crews are working at the scene. In the hospital, 59-year-old Serhiy Klymenko, a refrigeration unit operator for the Naftogaz Group, passed away. He had suffered critical wounds during an attack on the Poltava region on the night of May 4–5.

“A man died as a result of the strike in the city center,” the Kherson Regional Administration stated.

“About an hour ago, people in the Central District came under attack. One person was killed in the strike, and another seriously injured person was hospitalized,” Glavcom reported.

This incident underscores the ongoing armed conflict in the region and its toll on civilians. Strikes on populated areas leave residents vulnerable, while emergency crews continue their dangerous work. Reporting on casualties remains critical, as it highlights the scale of the humanitarian crisis and the urgent need for international support to protect civilians.

The recent strike in Kherson's Central District is part of a troubling pattern of violence affecting civilians in the region. In a similar incident earlier this week, two people lost their lives and eight others were injured when Russian forces targeted minibuses. These events highlight the urgent need for increased international attention to the safety of civilians amidst ongoing hostilities.
