Russian Drone Strike Disrupts Traffic on Kyiv’s Northern Bridge, Left Bank Access Blocked
Drone Assault Targets Northern Bridge in Kyiv
According to Рубрика — Суспільство: On October 3, 2026, Russian forces launched a strike using an attack drone on Kyiv’s Northern Bridge, the critical link between the Obolon and Troieshchyna districts. The assault caused damage to the bridge’s roadway and the trolleybus overhead wires, as confirmed by Kyiv’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko. Due to this damage, traffic from the city’s left bank to the right bank was suspended on the Northern Bridge. Consequently, Kyivpastrans announced delays affecting bus routes 21, 73, 101, and 114, along with trolleybus lines 29, 30, 31, and 47 because of the road closure.
Temporary Traffic Restrictions Across Kyiv’s Bridges
It is important to note that just a day earlier, on October 2, 2026, Kyiv implemented temporary traffic limitations on four of its bridges during air raid alerts. The Southern Bridge was completely closed to all vehicles in both directions. The Darnytskyi Bridge operated with reduced capacity, limited to a single lane from the right bank to the left. Additionally, traffic was blocked on the Metro Bridge heading from the left to the right bank, and the Podilsko-Voskresenskyi Bridge was also closed.
On the night of October 2, Russian troops struck the Southern Bridge for the third time. Prior to this, on October 1, two drones targeted the base supports of the Southern Bridge, causing damage to a bridge pier, a guardrail, a traffic lane, and a concrete barrier near the metro. Metro specialists responded by cutting power to the railway section, halting metro and surface public transportation across the Southern Bridge. The following day, October 2, the occupiers launched a fourth drone attack on the Southern Bridge.
'Impact confirmed on the Northern Bridge. Emergency teams are en route to the scene,' stated Vitali Klitschko.
The ongoing damage to Kyiv’s bridges presents a serious challenge to the city’s infrastructure and public safety. Authorities are actively working to safeguard residents and maintain essential services amid these attacks.
Strikes on vital infrastructure such as bridges highlight an intensification of the conflict, severely disrupting Kyiv’s transportation network. This situation underscores the urgent need for enhanced security measures and reinforced protection of critical facilities. City officials continue to monitor developments closely and respond swiftly to emerging threats to ensure the safety of Kyiv’s population.
The recent drone strike on the Northern Bridge has further complicated the already tense traffic situation in Kyiv. Just a day before this attack, surface transport had resumed over the Southern Bridge following a series of drone assaults that prompted extensive inspections and repairs.
