29 Killed in Russian Airstrike on Komyshuvakha; Official Day of Mourning Declared
Devastating Airstrike Strikes Komyshuvakha
According to Рубрика — Суспільство: On November 2, 2026, the settlement of Komyshuvakha in Zaporizhzhia region suffered a large-scale air assault by Russian forces. The attack claimed the lives of 29 individuals, left five injured, and 48 unaccounted for. Among the dead were two members of Ukraine's State Emergency Service (SES) and four police officers. In response to this tragedy, Zaporizhzhia region declared November 3 a Day of Mourning.
Details of the Attack
The strike involved at least nine guided FAB-3000 bombs targeting a building used for distributing humanitarian aid to locals. The bombing destroyed a sports hall and an outbuilding, while also damaging a nearby school. Additionally, a fire rescue vehicle was completely destroyed.
The two fallen SES officers, Denys Konovalenko and Oleksiy Suschevskyi, were both 44 years old. Konovalenko had nearly 12 years of experience in civil protection, while Suschevskyi had served in Zaporizhzhia’s fire and rescue units for over 13 years, having joined in 2013. Both were honored with the President of Ukraine’s award 'For the Defense of Ukraine,' and Suschevskyi also received the 'Defender of the Fatherland' medal.
Rescuers and police had to seek shelter due to the threat of subsequent strikes, but a follow-up attack hit the same location. 'Among the casualties are two rescuers and four police officers. Five others were wounded, including two SES members,' stated Andriy Danyk, head of Ukraine's SES.
The families of the deceased now face unimaginable grief. 'Wives have lost their husbands, and four children-two sons aged 18 and 19, and daughters aged 12 and 8-have lost their father. There are no words to ease this pain. Russia has taken the lives of two men devoted to saving others. They were colleagues, brothers-in-arms, and an integral part of our large rescue family,' Danyk added.
