According to Главком: Personnel from Russia’s 143rd Regiment caused a major leak of sensitive information by posting official documents, login credentials for internal systems, and other critical data in a public Telegram chat. The channel, which had been active for roughly a year and was accessible to outsiders, became a hub for sharing details such as:

• personnel rosters;
• surveillance camera system spreadsheets;
• ammunition requisition forms;
• usernames and passwords for internal networks;
• two-factor authentication keys for viewing drone feeds.

Internal Audits and Security Concerns

In August 2025, the headquarters of Russia’s 5th Army issued a directive citing heavy losses among assault units. The documents pointed to inadequate supplies and poor performance of robotic platforms as contributing factors. Commanders ordered that automated carts be equipped with Starlink terminals. By December 2025, a separate order was discovered requiring the construction of fake positions along the Vremivka axis. Russian troops were instructed to simulate unit activity, vehicle movements, and field kitchen operations.

Additionally, the chat contained materials related to radio deception and psychological operations. In late April, administrators noticed a surge in unauthorized users joining the channel, raising alarms. In response, the Russian military launched internal investigations after news of the leak became public.

This breach of confidential information highlights weak information security controls within the Russian armed forces, which could seriously compromise their operational effectiveness.
