November 3 Missile Strike Devastates Hospices, Homes, and Medical Facilities in Dnipro
Aftermath and Response to the Strike on Dnipro
According to Рубрика — Суспільство: On the morning of November 3, a Russian missile strike caused extensive damage across Dnipro, severely impacting a hospice for elderly patients with terminal illnesses. Nearly 100 patients were present during the attack, with approximately 50 urgently relocated to other hospitals. The oldest patient caught in the attack was 90 years old. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among patients or medical staff.
Beyond the hospice, the strike also damaged several critical locations, including:
- a primary healthcare outpatient clinic;
- a city hospital;
- 20 residential buildings, some suffering significant destruction;
- a gymnasium;
- a kindergarten;
- a music school;
- a library;
- the Energetik Palace of Culture;
- and the World Bank outpatient clinic.
More than a thousand windows were shattered, with doors and heating systems also damaged. These destructions caused water supply interruptions in the older part of Prydniprovsk.
Municipal workers, emergency services, and volunteers are actively working on-site to manage the aftermath. On the night of November 3, Russian forces launched a massive assault on Ukraine using ballistic and cruise missiles alongside drones. Dnipro was among the hardest-hit cities, with one fatality and 17 injured reported due to the attack.
'Nearly fifty terminally ill patients from the destroyed hospice are currently being transferred to other city hospitals. The oldest among them is 90 years old.' - Borys Filatov, Mayor of Dnipro
Other regions of Ukraine were also targeted during these attacks. In Kharkiv, a Russian missile struck the corridor between hospital buildings, injuring at least 73 people. In Vinnytsia Oblast, infrastructure sites were hit, leaving many communities without electricity. Zhytomyr Oblast experienced a strike on an energy facility, resulting in power outages affecting around 130 settlements. Additionally, drones targeted a residential building in Shepetivka, Khmelnytskyi Oblast, damaging the roof and two apartments.
Overall, on the night of November 3, Russia deployed 289 attack drones of the Shahed type and various missiles. Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted 52 missiles and 257 drones.
This wave of attacks on Dnipro and other parts of Ukraine underscores the ongoing escalation of the conflict and its severe impact on civilians. Damage to healthcare facilities and homes highlights the grave risks faced by non-combatants amid continued hostilities. Authorities and emergency responders are working to address the destruction swiftly, but the scale of the damage raises concerns about regional stability and safety.
