Russia expels 600 Ukrainians from occupied Crimea, - Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The courts of Russia illegally issued decrees for the expulsion of nearly a thousand individuals from the territory of occupied Crimea, of which about 600 are citizens of Ukraine.

This was stated by the ambassador for special assignments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Larysa Geraskо, as reported by the publication INKORR.com

According to her, Russians are instead being resettled to the peninsula.

“Yes, recently more than 140,000 Russians changed their place of registration to Crimea,” - said Geraskо.

The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the resettlement of Russian citizens to the territory of occupied Crimea by Russian authorities constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law.

The Kremlin also violated the Hague Conventions by forcibly extending its citizenship to the entire population of the peninsula, including stateless persons.

Furthermore, Russia violates the right to life, freedom, and safety through violence against people. Since the occupation in 2014, over 40 individuals have disappeared, including Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar activists and journalists.
