Скасування концерту Нетребко в Румунії: усі подробиці рішення

The hybrid influence of Russia through cultural and artistic events was the reason for the cancellation of Anna Netrebko's performance. Representatives of civil society and the Ukrainian Embassy in Romania participated in this process.

The concert of Russian opera singer Anna Netrebko, who supports Russia's invasion of Ukraine, has been canceled in Romania. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported that Netrebko's concert was scheduled to take place on October 6 in Cluj-Napoca along with the Transylvanian Philharmonic Orchestra, and she was to be awarded the title of Honorary Doctor of the George Emil Palade National Medical Academy.

What is known about Netrebko?

Anna Netrebko, who holds the title of People's Artist of Russia, supports dictator Putin. In 2023, she was included in Ukraine's sanctions list. Her performances were canceled at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and in Germany due to her pro-Russian stance. It is worth noting that former commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny also called for the cancellation of Netrebko's performance in London.

In Athens, Greece, the performance of Russian pianist Matsuev was also canceled due to his support for the Kremlin's policies, particularly regarding Ukraine. He has been banned from performing in the West since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Events surrounding the cancellation of performances by Russian artists in various countries indicate how civil society and political representatives react to support for Russia's invasion of Ukraine through cultural events. These actions signal a rejection of certain artists who support Russian aggression and the support of national interests in other countries.
