Donetsk Shakhtar achieved a comeback victory over Karpaty in the central match of the 5th round of the UPL. The Lviv team opened the scoring first, but the reigning champion responded with two goals and won 2:1. Earlier, Shakhtar drew with Karpaty 3:3 in Lviv. This is reported by Korrespondent.

Karpaty's lead lasted for 13 minutes. After a shot from Marlon Gomes, goalkeeper Denys Marchenko deflected the ball to the front, and Luca Meirelles was the first to follow up and equalized. Earlier, the Brazilian set one of the records in the UPL among substitute players.

The decisive moment came in the 67th minute. Izake Silva made a penetrative pass from deep in the field to Alisson. The Brazilian went one-on-one with Marchenko and shot into the bottom right corner. This goal secured three points for Shakhtar.
According to statistics, the visitors had 55% ball possession and took 11 shots compared to seven by Karpaty. Shots on target were equal at 6:6. The Lviv team took five corners, while Shakhtar had only one.
After five matches, Shakhtar has gained 12 points and is in second place in the championship. Karpaty, with 10 points, are third and suffered their first defeat of the 2026/27 season. The Donetsk team is defending the title as last season Shakhtar became the champion of Ukraine for the 16th time in history.
