Lonely pensioners over 80 will receive an additional 1000 hryvnias: who will get the allowance
In September 2025, Ukraine will begin providing additional financial support to lonely elderly people who need care due to their health condition.
According to new rules, pensioners aged 80 and over, who live without family and have medical indications, will receive a special allowance. Its size will amount to 40% of the minimum subsistence level, which currently stands at 944.40 hryvnias. This will allow them to receive almost one thousand hryvnias additionally every month. However, to receive this assistance, it is necessary to have confirmation of the need for care.
To apply for this assistance, one will need to contact the Pension Fund of Ukraine and provide an application, a passport, a certificate of absence of other allowances, and medical documents confirming the health condition. The decision on the appointment of the allowance will be made after a thorough review of the provided documents.
It is also worth reminding that pensioners can take advantage of free rest in sanatoriums. Information on how to obtain a voucher can be found at the relevant authority.
The provision of additional financial support to lonely elderly people in Ukraine is an important step in improving the quality of their lives and ensuring the necessary care and attention. This new initiative will improve social protection for the most vulnerable groups of the population and make aging more comfortable for those who are left without family support.
