Sanctions Against Loraк and Pavaliy: What Assets Have the Singers Lost in Ukraine
The President's Commissioner for Sanctions Policy Vladislav Vasyuk reported that Ukrainian show business stars working in Russia have felt the effects of sanctions imposed in 2022. In particular, Ani Lorak and Taisia Povalij have become 'toxic' in the eyes of Ukrainian authorities due to asset losses and blocked bank accounts in Ukraine.
According to Vasyuk, Ukrainian sanctions complicate cooperation with these stars on Ukrainian territory, as well as block their channels on streaming platforms. Working with YouTube in this regard is proving more successful than with Telegram, but we must keep our finger on the pulse.
The situation with sanctions is also complicating the life of Taisia Povalij, who has lost real estate in Ukraine, but so far the Ministry of Justice has no intention of confiscating her son's apartment. It is worth noting that this apartment previously belonged to Povalij's mother, who received it as a gift from the Party of Regions.
Another Ukrainian star, Ani Lorak, has also come under the scrutiny of Ukrainian society due to her Russian Federation citizenship. The singer disappeared from the Ukrainian pop scene after 2017 and in February 2024 applied for Russian citizenship, thus avoiding criticism for cooperating with Russia.
