Anti-Corruption Court Petition Filed

According to НАЗК: The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) has filed a lawsuit with Ukraine's High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC). The petition demands the court recognize as unjustified the assets acquired by the former head of the Kremenchuk District Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support (a military recruitment office) between 2022 and 2024, and to confiscate them for the state. This action is part of Ukraine's ongoing, high-priority campaign to root out corruption within its institutions.

Lifestyle Audit Uncovers Discrepancy

The National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) conducted a lifestyle audit of the former recruitment official. Its investigation concluded that assets, with a total value exceeding 4 million Ukrainian hryvnias (approximately $100,000 USD), could not have been obtained through legal income. The seized assets in question include:

  • An apartment in a clubhouse building in Kremenchuk,
  • Vehicles: a 'Toyota Land Cruiser Prado' and a 'Toyota RAV-4',
  • Monetary funds.

The NACP found no legal basis for the official to have acquired such property and funds.

This case underscores the critical importance of combating corruption in Ukraine, especially as the nation faces the immense challenges of war and economic hardship. The SAPO lawsuit represents a state effort to restore public trust in institutions and ensure transparency in the management of public resources. Such investigations serve as a clear signal to other officials about the consequences of illicit enrichment.
