SAP Seeks Court Ruling to Declare O. Kheylo's Assets as Unlawfully Acquired

According to НАБУ: The Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) has filed a lawsuit requesting that assets belonging to former Ukrainian Deputy Energy Minister O. Kheylo be deemed unjustified. These assets were acquired between 2021 and 2023. According to the SAP prosecutor's petition, the disputed property includes a residential house and a 0.0345-hectare land plot located in the Kyiv region, with a combined value of 4,956,900 Ukrainian hryvnias.

Although the properties are registered under third parties, evidence suggests they were purchased on behalf of and according to the instructions of the official. At the time of acquisition, Kheylo was serving as Deputy Energy Minister and maintains direct or indirect control over these assets. An examination of the financial status of the official and his wife indicates that it would have been impossible to acquire these items using legitimate income.

This legal action is a testament to the ongoing anti-corruption campaign in Ukraine, targeting illicit enrichment by former officials.

Lawsuit Seeks Asset Forfeiture, Relies on NABU Evidence

The lawsuit additionally calls for these assets to be seized and transferred to the state budget. It was submitted based on materials provided by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and evidence collected by the SAP prosecutor.

This case highlights the active role of Ukraine's anti-corruption agencies in tackling official corruption. SAP and NABU continue to detect and disrupt corrupt practices, which is critical for restoring public trust in state institutions.
