Ukrainian Drone Forces Destroy Two Russian Tankers and S-400 Systems in the Sea of Azov
Operation by Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces
According to ХВИЛЯ: On the night of July 6, Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces carried out a successful operation that destroyed two Russian tankers in the Sea of Azov, along with two launchers of the S-400 air defense system, an oil depot in Kerch, and a Nebo-U radar station. Commander Robert Brovdi of the Unmanned Systems Forces provided details on the mission.
The destroyed tankers were transporting gasoline destined for Crimea and belonged to the so-called shadow fleet. They had departed from the Taganrog area, each carrying 7,000 tons of fuel-equivalent to roughly 200 railway tank cars. In addition, two S-400 Triumf launchers were eliminated:
- one was positioned at a firing site in the Bryansk region;
- the other was destroyed while hidden in Crimea.
The operation also set fire to an oil depot in Kerch and took out a Nebo-U radar station in the same area. In total, the Unmanned Systems Forces struck 47 military targets over the course of the night.
Units Involved in the Operation
The mission was carried out by units of the 414th Brigade "Madar's Birds," with participation from the 9th Battalion "Kairos," Task Force 13, and the 413th Regiment "Reid." The strikes occurred amid a massive Russian missile barrage on Ukraine.
“We will stand firm. Moscow will fall. We will restore and rebuild Crimea.”
- Robert Brovdi
This operation highlights the activity of Ukrainian forces in the ongoing conflict with Russia and underscores the strategic importance of unmanned technologies. Destroying tankers that supplied fuel to Crimea could significantly disrupt Russian military logistics in the region. At the same time, the reference to large-scale missile attacks points to an escalation in hostilities and the urgent need to defend Ukrainian territory. The incident reflects the prolonged and complex nature of military operations in the area, where both sides continue to vie for strategic advantages.
This recent operation is part of a broader strategy by Ukrainian forces to target critical military supplies in the region. For a closer look at another significant mission, where drone forces successfully engaged multiple targets in Crimea, check out the details of their night operation here.
