Clashes Erupt in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka
According to Рубрика — Суспільство: On November 2, a confrontation took place near a building temporarily housing National Guard servicemen in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has identified around 100 participants linked to these clashes and initiated three criminal investigations. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the incident was orchestrated to discredit the military and stir public outrage. Both soldiers and a 14-year-old teenager were injured during the events.
Legal Actions and Incident Details
The SBU’s ongoing probes focus on charges including:
- Obstruction of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s operations,
- Dissemination of sensitive information regarding Defense Forces’ locations,
- Participation in mass unrest.
The building involved was lawfully rented by the National Guard. At the time, 17 servicemen were inside, with two classified as having left their units without authorization. Four soldiers removed from the premises have since returned to their military unit.
Authorities are investigating the causes of bruises and injuries among the servicemen. One soldier sustained injuries during an alert after falling; he was undergoing basic infantry training. In total, 16 National Guard personnel tasked with maintaining order at the scene were hurt. Additionally, the 14-year-old adolescent fell from a tree on the property and was brought inside by the soldiers for safety.
Local residents gathered outside the building on November 2, demanding entry. Social media circulated claims that about 40 individuals were being unlawfully held in the basement. National Guard Commander Oleksandr Pivnenko confirmed that the building housed servicemen, including some who had deserted their units; four of these soldiers were hospitalized. Military Ombudsman Olga Reshetylova assured that all servicemen are safe and receiving necessary medical care.
This location serves as a temporary station for a unit connected to the Azov Corps. Following the clashes, Kirill Budanov, Head of the Presidential Office, announced forthcoming measures to prevent similar incidents. A woman who arrived first on the scene by ambulance was detained. Ivan Vyhivskyi described the event as "staged," highlighting that this woman, acting with premeditation, aimed to undermine the military’s reputation. He noted,
"She threw some photographs related to those who had left their units without permission and meticulously planned this action."
Vyhivskyi also refuted rumors of any torture site at the location, calling them fake news. Oleksandr Pivnenko clarified that only one soldier-who was not absent without leave and was in basic military training-suffered an injury. Medical teams were dispatched to assess the condition of the servicemen. The SBU continues its investigation to clarify all aspects of the case.
This episode has generated significant public attention, illustrating tensions between local communities and military groups. The SBU’s investigation aims not only to uncover the facts but also to prevent future conflicts. It remains crucial that all parties receive appropriate support and protection, while the public stays accurately informed about the realities involving military formations in the area.
