According to ДСНС: During his winter vacation, Sergeant Dmytro Derevyanko of the Civil Protection Service became the seventh recipient of the #Rescue_Hero_2026 award for his courageous efforts in saving two 11-year-old boys who had fallen through the ice on a pond in the village of Domanivka, Voznesensk district, Mykolaiv region. Upon learning about the emergency from a relative, Dmytro immediately rushed to the scene.

Arriving at the pond, he called his colleagues to summon medical assistance. Taking a tow rope from his vehicle, he carefully stepped onto the fragile ice, making his way to the hole where the children were trapped. One boy, Denys, was found barefoot near the edge of the water, while the other, Volodymyr, was waist-deep in icy water and struggling to move.

Quickly acting, Dmytro secured the rope around Volodymyr’s arm and pulled him safely onto the ice. The rescue was successful without any severe injuries, and both boys were brought to safety.
