Ukraine's Defense Forces Strike Russian Refinery and Warship in 24-Hour Operation
Ukrainian Defense Forces Hit Russian Military and Industrial Targets
According to ХВИЛЯ: Between June 1 and 2, Ukraine's Defense Forces launched strikes on multiple Russian military and industrial sites. Among the targets was the Ilsky oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai, which has an annual processing capacity of approximately 6.6 million tons of crude oil. Additionally, a Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air missile and gun system was destroyed near Vidne in occupied Crimea. In Shakhtarske, Donetsk region, a storage facility for enemy drones was hit, and strikes also targeted unmanned aerial vehicle command posts in Ustinka (Belgorod region), Luhove in Zaporizhzhia, and Hola Prystan in Kherson region. These operations are part of Ukraine's ongoing strategy to degrade Russia's military infrastructure.
Further Strikes and Their Impact
In addition, Ukrainian Defense Forces struck concentrations of personnel near Shyrokyne, Berestok, and Komar in Donetsk region, as well as in Maliivka, Dnipropetrovsk region, and Lokot in Kursk region. These actions followed missile strikes conducted on May 31, when Neptune cruise missiles hit the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery in Rostov region, damaging two primary crude processing units, AVT-1 and AVT-2. At the Lazarevo oil pumping station in Kirov region, two 50,000-cubic-meter storage tanks and main pump station buildings were damaged. At the Saratov oil refinery, a strike on May 31 was confirmed to have damaged the AVT-6 primary processing unit.
Furthermore, near the base at Mizhvodyne in occupied Crimea, an enemy vessel-preliminarily identified as a degaussing ship-was struck. As stated by Defense Forces representatives,
“they will continue to act to weaken Russia's military-economic potential and force it to stop its aggression against Ukraine.”
These strikes on strategic Russian assets highlight an intensification of Ukrainian operations in response to the invasion. Destroying key military and industrial resources could significantly hinder Russia's ability to conduct war efforts. This also underscores Ukraine's determination to defend its territory and sovereignty, potentially shaping the conflict's future trajectory.
In light of these recent military actions, it is crucial to understand the broader implications for Russia's oil infrastructure.
