According to Главком: In a series of strikes on March 15-16, Ukrainian Defense Forces targeted Russian air defense assets and command posts, as well as sites in the Belgorod region. These operations are part of Ukraine's ongoing effort to degrade Russia's integrated air defense network, which is critical for protecting occupied territories. Ukrainian units successfully hit a Tor-M1 surface-to-air missile system near Korobkino in the temporarily occupied Luhansk region, and another Tor system close to Balashivka in Zaporizhzhia region.

Furthermore, during the attack, a radar station belonging to an S-300 air defense system was struck near Chervone in the temporarily occupied Donetsk region. Strikes were also carried out on command and observation posts in the Stepne and Bahate districts, located in the occupied territories of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, respectively.

Attacks on Energy Infrastructure

Overnight on March 15, Ukrainian Defense Forces attacked Protivnik and Parol radar stations, as well as a launch unit of an S-400 Triumph air defense system. The General Staff confirmed significant damage to a Valdai radar complex, which had been struck on March 10, 2026, in the Primorske area of temporarily occupied Crimea.

In addition to the strikes on military targets, missiles also hit the city of Belgorod and its region overnight on March 15. This resulted in damage to energy infrastructure, leading to disruptions in electricity, water, and heating supplies in parts of the region. A fire broke out at one of the facilities in the city of Belgorod.

These strikes form part of Ukraine's strategic campaign to reduce the combat capability of Russian forces in occupied territories and increase pressure on enemy rear positions. The attacks on energy objects in Belgorod indicate an attempt to impact Russia's logistical and communication capabilities, which could improve the chances of success for Ukrainian military operations in the region.
