Ukrainian Defense Forces' April 2026 Offensive Actions

According to Главком: In April 2026, Ukrainian military forces executed a coordinated series of strikes against Russian military installations. These operations targeted vital command and control infrastructure, including naval coordination hubs, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) command posts, and observation centers. Specifically, on April 21 and 22, Ukrainian units successfully hit several strategic objectives. Among them was the 'Striletsky' command post in Sevastopol, which coordinates the movement of warships for Russia's Black Sea Fleet.

Additional strikes damaged UAV control centers near the Russian villages of Korovyakovka and Tyotkino in Kursk Oblast. Another UAV command post, known as 'Molniya,' located in the Dobrolyubivka area of Kharkiv Oblast, was also attacked. Ukrainian defenders struck an enemy unit command point in Vyazove, Belgorod Oblast.

Further successful engagements were recorded against enemy command and observation posts near Zatyshne in the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk Oblast and Vysoke in Belgorod Oblast. Defense forces also targeted a concentration of occupying troops in the area of the settlement of Hrafske, Donetsk Oblast.

Operation by the Main Intelligence Directorate's Special Unit

In a separate operation on the night of April 18-19, 2026, a special unit of Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), known as 'Phantoms,' conducted a mission in temporarily occupied Crimea. The raid resulted in the destruction of high-value assets belonging to the Russian Black Sea Fleet and an enemy radar station. In response, occupation forces began mining the coastline and waters around Crimea, actions that underscore the escalating tensions and volatility in the region.

These strikes mark a significant intensification of Ukraine's military efforts, potentially signaling a new phase in the long-running conflict. Targeting key Russian naval and command nodes could substantially degrade the occupiers' operational capabilities. The actions in Crimea, a region illegally annexed by Russia in 2014, highlight its continued strategic importance and the risk of further escalation. This sustained pressure demonstrates Ukraine's capacity to strike deep behind enemy lines, even in heavily fortified areas.

The recent offensive actions by Ukrainian forces have prompted a swift response from Russian military units, who are now taking measures to secure the Crimean coastline. As concerns grow over potential Ukrainian amphibious assaults, the occupation forces are fortifying their defenses by laying mines along key coastal areas. To understand the implications of this heightened military activity, read more about how these developments are reshaping the dynamics in the region in our detailed report on Russian forces reinforcing their positions along the Crimean coast.
