Ukrainian Forces Strike Crimea, Destroying Air Defenses, a Boat, and Drone Warehouses
Crimea Targeted in Coordinated Attack
According to Главком: In a coordinated operation on the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula, units from Ukraine's Special Operations Forces and Naval Forces successfully struck Russian military assets. The strikes resulted in the destruction of three Russian Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and artillery systems, along with the elimination of one enemy mobile fire group.
Separately, a Russian high-speed BK-16 landing craft (Project 02510) was hit in Novoozerne. At the Kirovske airfield, a storage facility for Orion reconnaissance and strike drones was destroyed, along with four complete control stations for these UAVs. These strikes demonstrate Ukraine's capability to conduct precision operations deep within occupied territory, targeting key logistical and defensive positions.
Explosions Reported in Veliky Novgorod
Explosions were heard in the Russian city of Veliky Novgorod on the night of March 8-9. Preliminary reports indicate that the Akron PJSC chemical plant was targeted in a drone attack. This incident, occurring far from the front lines, is part of a pattern of strikes on Russian industrial facilities that have been linked to the war effort. The events in both Crimea and Russia highlight the expanding geographical scope of the conflict and the ongoing intensity of military engagements, with little indication of progress toward a diplomatic resolution.
