Scandal in Odesa Region: Dalnytska Community Renamed Streets Named After Fallen Defenders
The leadership of the Dalnytska community in the Odesa region decided to rename some streets and alleys, which sparked a wave of criticism. According to military officer Oleksandr Rudomanov, one of the reasons for this was the renaming of streets dedicated to fallen heroes during the war.
In particular, it was proposed to rename streets that bore the names of Ivan Lypa, Roman Shukhevych, Vsevolod Zmiiev, Vasyl Vyshyvanyi.
Protests in Lutsk Against the Renaming of the Street
In April, local residents in Lutsk protested against the renaming of a street in honor of the fallen Hero of Ukraine Taras Chayka, who was a local resident. Some residents gathered 127 signatures against this change.
One resident spoke about her neighbor, fallen warrior Vitalii Formaniuk, who gave his life for Ukraine. She sent a request to keep the street's previous name in honor of the fallen. Support for preserving the old street name was also expressed by military officer Oleksii Khabarov, because military personnel currently protecting the country reside on this street.
In the Dalnytska community in the Odesa region and in Lutsk, people are opposing the renaming of streets dedicated to fallen heroes of the Ukrainian-Russian war. They urge to preserve the memory of their fellow countrymen and not to change the history of their communities.
